Wilberforce's Grandson on the Inhumanity of Abortion

I am writing as the great great grandson of William Wilberforce, who campaigned vigorously for the ending of the transatlantic slave trade in 1807, which ultimately paved the way for the abolition of slavery itself throughout the entire British Empire in 1833. I am often asked what would be the campaigns Wilberforce would be fighting if he were alive in 21st century Britain. I believe that there would be a number of different issues – among them human trafficking and the scourge of drugs. But almost certainly at the top of the list, would be the issue of abortion.

By Lou Engle Two days ago our nation’s first African American president, Barak Obama, was escorted onto a regal platform before the masses of America. He put his hand on the Bible (the actual Bible Abraham Lincoln used for his oath) and then briefly made his inaugural oath to protect the Constitution. Borrowing from the theme of President Obama’s inauguration, it seems that today we have a new Abraham Lincoln and are on the brink of witnessing, in all its glory, “A New Birth of Freedom” for America. It is amazing how we can honor the heroes of justice in our past and stand in the very shadows of their memorials but not learn the lessons that history taught.

Abortion History
Legalized abortion has defied the unalienable right to Life and allowed the most marginalized and voiceless group in America to be slaughtered in the womb. Yet this injustice did not begin with denying Life. It began when we embraced the ideals of eugenics and rejected the first truth, that all men are created equal. Only by exposing the roots of legalized abortion in a legacy of eugenics can America have a full understanding of the injustice in this nation.

Mr. McKinley's article on "Why Abortion is Biblical" is a perfect example of scripture being twisted and misused to prove a stance on immorality, and a posture that is anything less than wicked. So before we dismantle this heretical argument, I would like to give you a crash course on Bible interpretation. This is an important subject for the saints of God, who are to have a love of the Truth in there hearts. Paul admonishes Timothy to know how to right discern between teachers of false doctrines, and those who would teach and lead men astray through deceitful words.
In 2 Timothy 2:15 Paul says: "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." In other words, when Paul says "approved" he is stating that taking a back seat, or pleading ignorance about the scriptures is not acceptable.

There is a hard to quantify, yet hard to deny reality that the spirit world operates something akin to mathematics at times. Truth works no matter how you approach the equation. Exposing the Shameful Link Between Abortion, Racism, and Eugenics
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness (The Declaration of Independence). These words, written over two hundred years ago, became the very foundation of what the United States of America stands for. Yet in the past hundred years, millions of American citizens have been denied the rights and truths encompassed in this statement. During one prayer journey, I had an experience and a depth of travail I'll never forget. During this experience, I heard the Lord say that He was sharing with me His heart for America. With an intensity I had never known before, I wept for more than two hours over the pain and division in our nation. I then heard the Lord speak to me: "If I heard the whispered prayers of slaves underneath cooking pots, how much more do I hear the silent screams of babies being aborted in America!" My heart, like His, was shattered to pieces! In the act of abortion, we kill that for which we once would have died, and spurn what others gave their lives to protect -- the sanctity of human life. We haven't learned our lessons from history. Consequently, we're breaking God's heart again.
